Description
Summary:The role of surfactant on a thermal property change of polymers is tested. Conductive polymers based on graphite were tested for property change using heat pulse technique. Short heat pulses (3 s, 120 w) were used to monitor the property/composition change of the polymer mixture. Also a cooled sensor head (0 °C), when it contacts the polymer mixture resulted in heat transfer from the polymer to the sensor. The rate of temperature change showed a possible correlation with property/composition of the polymer mixture. Several polymers containing graphite and surfactants were tested. The surfactants included the anionic and nonionic types. The presence of nonylphenolethoxylate (NPE) surfactant in the polyethyleneoxide (PEO) polymer resulted in lowering the level of the monitored signal (temperature) in response to certain heat pulse dose.
