Summary: | cis-Polyacetylene film prepared by the Shirakawa method was exposed to γ-radiation or electron beam. Irradiated samples were investigated using IR and cyclic voltammetry techniques. They were found mainly to preserve
cis-configuration and their electrochemical activity upon storage appeared to be different from that of untreated samples, which isomerized and decomposed. Doses of γ-radiation up to 75 Mrad for ‘thin’ films (90–240 μm) and 100 Mrad for thick films (350 μm) proved to be optimal to ensure the effect. |
