Description
Summary:This paper deals with improving high voltage photovoltaic generators working under dusty conditions. Indeed, such an experimental generator operating for several years on a Sahelian site with the usual protective wiring revealed changing characteristics as a result of arising defects. We describe and analyse the causes of these defects, due to weakened modules, insulated by protection diodes to prevent destruction. We propose an original static coupling device which eliminates the defects. It prevents the isolation of weakened modules, and so they provide their optimal available power. After a principle description of the device, tests on a laboratory low power set-up are given to show its feasibility from the electrical engineering point of view, and to show the generator improvement with the elimination defects.
