Vibrational spectra and assignments in di- t-butyl peroxide

The infra-red spectrum of di- t-butyl peroxide has been obtained in the gas, liquid and solid states between 1500 and 400cm −1*. The Raman spectrum of the liquid has also been re-investigated and qualitative polarization data obtained. The two sets of t-butoxy frequencies appear to combine to give m...

Description
Summary:The infra-red spectrum of di- t-butyl peroxide has been obtained in the gas, liquid and solid states between 1500 and 400cm −1*. The Raman spectrum of the liquid has also been re-investigated and qualitative polarization data obtained. The two sets of t-butoxy frequencies appear to combine to give modes of A− species intense in the Raman effect and motions of A− ” species strongly active in the infra-red. OO stretching motion is associated with the pair of Raman frequencies 904 and 862cm −1.
