Vibrational spectra of some tetrahalo-complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and manganese(II)

Raman and infra-red studies of complexes of the type MX 4 2−, where M = Co, Ni and Mn and X = Cl, Br and I, are presented and bond-stretching force constants are calculated. A previous report of apparent force-constant anomaly in the case of MnBr 4 2− is shown to have been erroneous.
