Vibrational studies on cyanoacetamides

The i.r. and Raman spectra of CH 2(CN)CONH 2, CCl 2(CN)CONH 2, CBr 2(CN)CONH 2 and CHBr(CN)CONH 2 have been recorded. The fundamental vibrations were assigned. The ν(CN) i.r. band intensity was determined and related to the electron distribution of the cyanogroup.
