Spectrophotometric studies on 4-acyl derivatives of 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazolone-5 in various solvents
The ultraviolet absorption spectra of various 4-acyl substituents of 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazolone-5 in 20% aqueous dioxane and various organic solvents are studied. The 4-acyl substituents which can be grouped as alkyl-, halo- and aromatic-substituted, have pH-absorption spectral characteristics pecu...

Summary: | The ultraviolet absorption spectra of various 4-acyl substituents of 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazolone-5 in 20% aqueous dioxane and various organic solvents are studied. The 4-acyl substituents which can be grouped as alkyl-, halo- and aromatic-substituted, have pH-absorption spectral characteristics peculiar to each of the groups. Two intraligand

transitions are observed in all the solvents while a third band due to intraligand charge transfer is observed as the
Z-value of the solvent increases. A plot of pH against α-values is obtained and discussed. The
K
a1 and
K
a2 values for the ligands are determined. |
