Summary: | A helium microwave-induced plasma (MIP) generated at atmospheric pressure between electrodes is described. The design eliminates the need for a silica discharge tube in order to avoid undesirable reactions with the silica wall. Coupling of the MIP with chromatographic systems can easily be realised, because the capillary inner electrode of the system can be considered as a prolongation of the chromatographic column. |
