Summary: | Radiation effects of charged particles on carbonate plastic (CR-39) and cellulose acetate plastic (CA) have been investigated. CR-39 was irradiated with
20 Ne ions of energy 420 MeV at normal incidence , while the cellulose acetate samples were irradiated with protons of 630 MeV. The tracks formed were revealed using suitable etching either chemically or electrochemically.
Experimental results were obtained in terms of frequency distribution of track diameter and track denisty in case of the carbonate plastic , while for cellulose acetate the track density ,as well as the induced change in optical density were measured.
The application of these radiation effects of heavy ion on CR-39 and protons on CA in the field of radiation detection and dosimetry is discussed. |
