Superlattices in iron-rich iron-aluminium alloys

The state of order of iron-rich iron-aluminium single crystal has been determined by diffuse elastic neutron scattering experiments. The atomic fraction of Al was between 0.2 and 0.3. Up to about 1300 K, all specimens have the DO 3-superlattice. The long-range order parameter is always high. The siz...

Description
Summary:The state of order of iron-rich iron-aluminium single crystal has been determined by diffuse elastic neutron scattering experiments. The atomic fraction of Al was between 0.2 and 0.3. Up to about 1300 K, all specimens have the DO 3-superlattice. The long-range order parameter is always high. The size of the antiphase domains decreases as the temperature is raised or the Al-concentration lowered.
