Investigations of the vibrational modes of single crystals and ceramic superconductors

Single domains on YBCO crystals have been investigated by Micro-Raman scattering. The anistropy between x and y direction turns out to be more pronounced at excitations with lower photon energies which is interpreted by an anisotropy of the plasma edge due to the influence of the CuO chains. Description
Summary:Single domains on YBCO crystals have been investigated by Micro-Raman scattering. The anistropy between x and y direction turns out to be more pronounced at excitations with lower photon energies which is interpreted by an anisotropy of the plasma edge due to the influence of the CuO chains. The Raman modes of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ single crystals have been measured by polarized Micro-Raman technique and have been assigned to specific vibrational modes. The influence of Pb doping has been studied and no change in the lattice dynamics of the Cu and Bi layers has been observed.
