Gamma-ray irradiation effects of as-grown Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O thin films on the superconducting property and modulation periodicity

8 films were prepared on MgO(100) substrates by the MOCVD method and were sequentially irradiated with γ-rays up to 400 MRad. On irradiating with γ-rays, the lattice parameter
a(=
b) decreased, and the superconducting transition temperature and the modulation periodicity both increased with increasing irradiation up to 250 MRad. By irradiation with 250 MRad, the film exhibited the highest superconducting transition temperatures of 85 and 43 K for
T
c onset and
T
c end temperatures, respectively. The
T
c onset temperature was found to increase with increasing modulation periodicity, suggesting that the
T
c onset increased with decreasing excess oxygen in the BiO layers. |
