Flux pinning and critical currents in hot extruded Bi-2223/Ag tapes

The transport electrical properties of a hot extruded Bi-2223/Ag tape having critical current density J c-3×10 4 A/cm 2 (at 77 K, 0 T) was measured in the range of temperature from 65 K to 88 K and external magnetic fields up to 10 T. From J c(B) curves the irreversibility field B ∗ at different tem...

Description
Summary:The transport electrical properties of a hot extruded Bi-2223/Ag tape having critical current density J c-3×10 4 A/cm 2 (at 77 K, 0 T) was measured in the range of temperature from 65 K to 88 K and external magnetic fields up to 10 T. From J c(B) curves the irreversibility field B ∗ at different temperatures was estimated. The normalized volume pinning force F p/F p,max dependence on reduced magnetic field b= B/ B ∗ exhibited a scaling law behaviour as predicted by the single vortex pinning model.
