Summary: | PLCD is the abbreviation of a new type of displacement sensor operating on a magnetic-inductive principle. It uses a flat bar as magnetic core wound according to the principle of differential transformers and a permanent (“driving” or “marking”) magnet guided along the wound core to determine a position or displacement. PLCDs are characterized by an application-oriented accuracy level combined with a versatile individually adaptable design and mode of operation as well as a simple, robust construction. They give access to fields of application which normally cannot be covered by other displacement sensors for technical or economic reasons. Their main feature is the mechanical separation of the marking magnet attached to the position-marking element from the sensor (sensor component). Besides this, the fact that in certain circumstances their properties are largely independent of the precise distance between magnet and sensor can be utilized with advantage. |
