Summary: | The electrochemistry of oxidizable and reducible substances solubilized in association colloids is reviewed. The systems considered are aqueous micelles and both oil and water continuous microemulsions. The emphasis is on the basic physical-chemical aspects of the electrochemical processes, and includes discussion of the effect of surfactant adsorption on the electrode as well as the effect of these colloidal media on the diffusion, discharge potential, and electron transfer mechanisms of the electroactive species. |
