Summary: | All positive blood culture isolates from a hematology unit, between 1991 and 1992, were evaluated retrospectively. A total of 88 bacteremic episodes (105 pathogens) were recorded. Patient population consisted of 31 males and 17 females and their age ranged from 17 to 78 years (median 57). 24/48 (50%) pts had 1 bacteremic episode, 12 (25%) pts had 2 episodes, 8 (17%) pts had 3 episodes and 4 (8%) pts had 4 episodes.
