Summary: | The Leader-Member Exchange theory of leadership was explored for its applicability to the turbulent and informal environment which characterizes research settings. It was hypothesized that the quality of the leader-member relationship would be positively associated with member's (1) intention to remain in the organization, (2) job satisfaction, (3) organizational commitment, (4) working relationship with the manager, and (5) job performance. With the exception of the relationship between the leader-member relationship and member performance, all hypothesized relationships were strongly supported. |
