Description
Summary:A method for the detection and identification of residues of veterinary tranquillizers and the β-blocker carazolol in kidneys of slaughtered pigs was developed. The method is based on liquid chromatography with UV spectrum identification. Additional confirmation can be obtained with two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography. Limits of identification range from less thann 1 to 2.5 μg kg −1, depending on the residue. The method was used in a surveillance study in The Netherlands.
