Summary: | This paper proposes a new spherical reactor type, used in making solid particle-suspensions. Based on some theoretical considerations the correlation for the complete suspension off-bottom speed in the case of closed, fully filled, spherical tank provided with radial baffles, has been established. The experimental investigations showed the superior performances of spherical reactors, as compared to the classical flat bottomed cylindrical reactor, thus demonstrating the existence of the so-called “sphere effect”. |
