Summary: | The effect of transverse electric fields on the temperature profiles of diffusion flames of ethyl alcohol (stabilized on the burner developed by Pandya and Weinberg) has been studied. It is found that in the presence of such fields the temperature gradients on either side of the flame undergo a change, the isothermals in the test zone are flat, the zone of maximum temperature shifts toward the oxidant side, and the reaction zone apparently broadens. |
