Summary:A new genus and species of “libellulid” dragonfly, Austrolibellula noroestenia nov. gen., nov. sp., of the group Italoansida BECHLY, 1996, is described. The specimen comes from the Maíz Gordo Formation (late Paleocene) that crops out in northwestern Argentina. Its phylogenetic relationships within Cavilabiata BECHLY, 1996 are discussed. Un nouveau genre et espèce de libellule, Austrolibellula noroestenia nov. gen., nov. sp., attribué au groupe Italoansida BECHLY, 1996, est décrit. Ce fossile provient de la formation Maíz Gordo (Paléocène tardif) qui affleure au nord-est de l’Argentine. Ses relations phylogénétiques au sein des Cavilabiata BECHLY, 1996 sont discutées. Se describe un nuevo género y especie de libélula; Austrolibellula noroestenia nov. gen., nov., nov. sp. del grupo Italoansida BECHLY, 1996. El espécimen proviene de la Formación Maíz Gordo (Paleoceno tardío) que aflora en el Noroeste de la Argentina. Se discuten sus relaciones filogenéticas dentro de Cavilabiata BECHLY, 1996.
