Summary:Crystallisation of flexible bipyridyl ligands with MnCl 2·4H 2O and KSCN gives co-ordination polymers of composition [Mn(NCS) 2(H 2O) 2(Py 2C 2H 4)](Py 2C 2H 4) 2(H 2O) 2 ( 1) (Py 2C 2H 4=1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane), [Mn 2(NCS) 4(Py 2C 3H 6) 4] n ( 2) (Py 2C 3H 6=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane) and [Mn(NCS) 2(CH 3CH 2OH) 2(Py 2C 6H 12)] n ( 3) (Py 2C 6H 12=1,6-bis(4-pyridyl)hexane). The structures were solved by single crystal structure determinations.
