Synthesis of nitridoosmium(VI) dithiolene complexes

Summary:The reaction of [N(n-Bu) 4][Os(N)Cl 4] or [PPh 4][Ru(N)(OSiMe 3) 4] with benzenedithiolate produces the benzenedithiolate complexes [N(n-Bu) 4][Os(N)(bdt) 2] or [PPh 4][Ru(N)(bdt) 2]. A similar osmium(VI) complex of 1,3-dithiol-2-thione-4,5-dithiolate was also prepared by reaction of [N(n-Bu) 4 4] 2[Zn(dmit) 2] with [N(n-Bu) 4][Os(N)Cl 4]. Organometallic complexes of benzenedithiolate [K][Os(N)(CH 2SiMe 3) 2(bdt)], and 1,3-dithiol-2-thione-4,5-dithiolate [N(n-Bu) 4][Os(N)(CH 2SiMe 3) 2(dmit)] were prepared from [Os(N)(CH 2SiMe 3) 2(NC 5H 5) 2][BF 4] and dithiolate salts.
