Summary: | As analytical solution of the problem of the propagation of Rayleigh waves in cubic crystals in their elastic symmetry planes and in the directions of the crystallographic axes is constructed using a three-dimensional complex formalism. The Rayleigh function is analysed taking into account the multiplicity of the roots of the characteristic polynomials, and the conditions under which it approaches zero for two values of the phase velocity are investigated. The relations between the elasticity constants of the cubic crystals for which a Rayleigh wave cannot propagate in the direction of the crystallographic axes are obtained. |
