Summary:Band parameters of bulk CdSe have been extracted from magneto-optical measurements of superthin (0.4 μm) CdSe samples at 1.7 K. True absorption spectra for a CdSe planar QD-system in a ZnSSe matrix were obtained. A theoretical model that properly describes the energy spectra and exciton behavior in planar QDs is developed. The theoretical model predicts the structure parameters, that are necessary for proper carrier localization and increase of the exciton oscillator strength.
