Summary: | The cathodic behaviour of a wide variety of tetraalkylammonium halides was studied at a polished palladium cathode in aprotic dimethylformamide. Coulometric and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance analyses demonstrated the formation of clusters whose stoichiometry was determined, attesting to the reversible insertion of cations and anions belonging to the electrolyte into the metallic bulk. |
