Further studies of the reduction of styrene in toluene/ N, N-dimethylformamide mixtures
We report further studies in order to interpret the shapes of the steady state, reduction wave for styrene in toluene/DMF mixtures at a 6- μm radius gold microdisc electrode. The viscosities and conductivities of the solutions of Bu 4NBF 4 in the solvent mixtures have been determined. The voltammogr...

Summary: | We report further studies in order to interpret the shapes of the steady state, reduction wave for styrene in toluene/DMF mixtures at a 6-
μm radius gold microdisc electrode. The viscosities and conductivities of the solutions of Bu
4NBF
4 in the solvent mixtures have been determined. The voltammograms are corrected for
IR drop and simulations have been carried out in order to confirm that the drawn out wave could result from slow electron transfer kinetics in an ece mechanism. In addition, some experiments have been carried out with 1,1-diphenylethylene and the results for the two olefins are compared. |
