Summary:The synthesis of new cationic bolaphiles in which the hydrophobic section is partially fluorinated, is described. These bisquaternary ammonium salts are obtained by quaternisation with methyl iodide of β-hydroxyamines and β-carboxyamines, synthesised from two sufficiently reactive intermediates, namely an ω–ω′ diepoxide and an ω–ω′ dibromoacetate which are the result of reaction with a diol, formula HOCH 2(CF 2) 3CH 2OH.
