Preparation and properties of nanocrystalline ZnS : Mn-polymer composite films

Composite films of nanocrystalline ZnS : Mn and two types of polymers, poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), were synthesized. Luminescence of Mn 2+ was enhanced on the ZnS : Mn-PAA composite due to energy transfer from PAA to Mn 2+. From the angle-resolved XPS measurements...

Description
Summary:Composite films of nanocrystalline ZnS : Mn and two types of polymers, poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), were synthesized. Luminescence of Mn 2+ was enhanced on the ZnS : Mn-PAA composite due to energy transfer from PAA to Mn 2+. From the angle-resolved XPS measurements of the ZnS : Mn-PMMA composite film and photoluminescence (PL) of a bilayer composite film consisting of PAA and ZnS : Mn-PMMA films, it is concluded that exchange interaction plays a significant role in the energy transfer between PAA and Mn 2+.
