Summary:The approximate spectra of the linear dichroism Δ k( ω ′) in the range of fundamental absorption of K 2Ca(SO 4) 2·H 2O crystals (syngenite), characterizing by the spectral point of birefringence sign inversion, Δ n( ω i )=0, have been reconstructed on the basis of experimental dispersions of the birefringence Δ n( ω) in the range of crystal’s transparency. The spectra Δ k( ω ′) of syngenite are obtained and analyzed for several temperatures in the range 293–450 K for mechanically free and uniaxially stressed ( σ=250 bar) samples.
