A method to analyse Talbot array illumination of an arbitrary multiple phase grating
A method is presented to calculate the Fresnel diffracted field of a multiple phase grating. Because a phase grating’s transmittance is a sum of transmittances of amplitude binary gratings weighted by phase factors, the Fresnel diffracted field of the phase grating is a superposition of those of the...

Summary: | A method is presented to calculate the Fresnel diffracted field of a multiple phase grating. Because a phase grating’s transmittance is a sum of transmittances of amplitude binary gratings weighted by phase factors, the Fresnel diffracted field of the phase grating is a superposition of those of the corresponding amplitude gratings. Although this useful method has been used in some ways for analysing fractional Talbot effect, a generalization of the method considering the calculation of the Fresnel diffracted field of any multiple phase grating at arbitrary fractional Talbot planes and its application in array illumination are given in this paper. |
