Description
Summary:Second harmonic generation from an optical beam of fundamental frequency ω induced by two noncollinear optical beams of frequency ω 1 in a chiral liquid is considered. In a molecular approach, the fourth-order nonlinear electric-dipole susceptibility mediating the relevant mixing process 2 ω= ω+ ω+ ω 1− ω 1 is expressed by linear and nonlinear molecular polarizabilities. The second harmonic intensity can be modulated by the light intensity of frequency ω 1 and, in principle, by the frequency ω 1 itself.
