Summary:Two known quinones, 3-ethyl-2,7-dihydroxynaphthazarin and 6,6′-bis(3-ethyl-2,7-dihydroxy-naphthazarin) and one new quinone, 2- O-(3′-ethyl-1′,2′,3′,4′-tetrahydro-5′,7′,8′-trihydroxy-1′,2′,4′-triketo-3′-naphthyl)-3-ethyl-7- hydroxynaphthazarin, were isolated from the red thallus tips of the lichen Cetraria islandica var. polaris.
