Summary:Low-temperature synthesis of a number of hetero-polytopic cryptands have been achieved in good yields without employing any templating metal ion. The cryptands are designed to hold more than one metal ion in its cavity. Low-temperature synthesis of a number of hetero-polytopic cryptands is described. The surprising [2+2] condensation of two tripodal units is observed, which tempted us to synthesis few more cryptands in order to understand the peculiar behavior.
