Formation of benzo[ ghi]fluoranthenes by palladium catalyzed intramolecular coupling

A novel synthesis of benzo[ ghi]fluoranthenes by palladium mediated coupling is reported. The high yields, mild reaction conditions and functional group tolerance are an advantage of this method.
