Description
Summary:The scattering by an infinite circular cylinder in a transversely isotropic, elastic medium is considered. The symmetry axis of the medium is parallel to the cylinder axis. The cylinder may be transversely isotropic with symmetry axis along the cylinder axis, or as special cases isotropic or a cavity. The scattering problem is solved by means of separation-of-variables in cylindrical coordinates. Numerical examples illustrate some of the features of the scattering by the cylinder. In the numerical examples, the incident field is taken as a plane wave of quasi P, quasi SV or SH type.
