Summary: | Defects on surfaces of porous granulated supports (using alumina as an example) were examined by X-ray spectral microanalysis and the relationship between defects and the mechanical strength of spherical granules was determined. The mechanical strength of the granules depends significantly on their imperfections (micro cracks with a size of > 10
3 nm), which is determined quantitatively from the Al Kα intensity profile. The regularities found are also valid for complex (Mg/Al
2O
3) systems. |
