Summary: | A numerical scheme to simulate the flow patterns inside a building due to wind action and heat release is presented in this paper. This rational approach of the problem combines the numerical simulation of the 3-D time averaged Navier-Stokes equations using a κ−ϵ two-equation turbulence model, with suitable boundary conditions for the ventilation openings which allow on to link the internal flow with the outside environmental conditions. A higher-order QUICK based interpolation scheme is used to discretize the convective terms of the equations. Numerical simulation data is compared with experimental results on a heated cubic space in communication with the outside environment by two ventilation openings. |
