Stopping powers of Al, Havar, Ni, Ti and Ta media for 9.67 MeV/u 58Ni and 9.5 MeV/u 18O ions
The stopping powers of Al, Havar, Ni, Ti and Ta solid targets have been measured for 9.67 MeV/u 58Ni and 9.5 MeV/u 18O ions. The energy loss measurements of ions in a degrader of given thickness were made using the SME line of GANIL [Ann. Phys. Coll. 2 14 (Suppl. 6) (1989)]. The stopping power data...

18O ions. The energy loss measurements of ions in a degrader of given thickness were made using the SME line of GANIL [Ann. Phys. Coll. 2 14 (Suppl. 6) (1989)]. The stopping power data have been compared with a scaling relative to the He
2+ ion stopping powers, assuming fully stripped ions inside the degrader. These experimental data have also compared with semi-empirical values given by the Hubert tabulations and with the Ziegler code. The comparison of these two parameterizations with the data of other works [Nucl. Instr. and Meth. 153 (1978) 161; Nucl. Instr. and Meth. B 28 (1987) 191] is presented. A good agreement is obtained with the values from the Hubert tabulations over a large energy range. However, for the Ziegler code, discrepancies are observed for the heavy ions in light targets. |
