Description
Summary:A detector for low-energy conversion and Auger electrons used for CEMS are described. It is based on the registration of light pulses produced by microdischarges in rare air caused by electrons under the presence of an electric field. The main parameters of the proposed Air Scintillation Detector (ASD) are comparable with parameters of usual CEMS detectors. However, the contrary to standard detectors, the ASD allows to investigate samples of almost arbitrary shape and size. It extends the field of CEMS applications, in particular, for investigation of tribological problems.
