Summary: | The application of a secondary-electron transmission monitor for high-precision intensity measurements of relativistic heavy-ion beams is investigated. The basic requirements, a strictly linear response as a function of beam intensity and a reliable absolute calibration are discussed on the basis of experimental data. Statistical fluctuations and systematic uncertainties of the calibration method are determined. |
