1 is bridged by double μ

cda bridging ligands and the uncoordinated methanol molecules are trapped in the cavities. Compound
2 is a mononuclear complex and the zinc(II) ion is coordinated by two nitrile-nitrogen atoms and four aqua ligands. The complexes show fluorescence both in the solid state and in solution.
