Summary: | A resistance between the electric source and the sample to the be electrocoated was introduced to reduce the sharp initial conditions of electrocoating. A previous theoretical work pointed out the high effectiveness of the new technique on the initial mechanisms of electrocoating and estimated the suitable value of the control resistance to use, while in this work the obtained experimental data using this new technique with different phosphated substrates, (steel, zinc-electroplated steel and hot-dipped galvanized steel), show that the new technique is a very efficient tool in reducing film cratering on phosphated zinc-plated steel and increasing the value of the voltage rupture on phosphated steel. |
