Paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic resonance of CuO

We report on the paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic resonance measurements of CuO ceramic and single crystals in the frequency range 52–500 GHz in magnetic fields up to 12 T and at temperatures 4.2–320 K. We observe the AFMR along three branches in the frequency-field diagram corresponding to a gap...

Description
Summary:We report on the paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic resonance measurements of CuO ceramic and single crystals in the frequency range 52–500 GHz in magnetic fields up to 12 T and at temperatures 4.2–320 K. We observe the AFMR along three branches in the frequency-field diagram corresponding to a gap ω 1 = 310 ± 10GHz and spin-flop at10.4 ± 0.2T for the ceramic sample. Contrary to previous analysis we propose that CuO is an ‘easy plane’ AF.
