Summary:The fluorescence and Raman spectra of bis(1-methylpyrrol-2-yl)arene derivatives are reported in order to obtain information about the conjugation in poly(bis-1-methylpyrrolylene- alt-arylene)s. The luminescence and the frequency dispersion were influenced by electronic effects and steric demands. Photo polymerization is observed during light irradiation. This effect is most pronounced in case of the 2,5-bis(1-methylpyrrol-2-yl) furan.
