Summary:The microsurgical anatomy of the lateral ventricles was examined in cadaveric cerebral hemispheres. The neural, arterial and venous structures in the wall of the lateral ventricles, the relationships of the lateral ventricles to the velum interpositum and third ventricle were examined. The relationships of the choroidal fissure and basal cisterns were also examined. The operative approaches to the lateral ventricles are reviewed and several clinical cases are presented.
