Summary:Studies of event shape observables at PETRA and LEP energies are presented. Previously published determinations of the strong coupling constant α s at √ s = 35 and 44 GeV are complemented using new resummed QCD calculations for the C parameter and improved calculations for the jet broadening variables B T and B W which recently became available. Furthermore, recently predicted power corrections to the differential distributions of these observables are investigated. In this study, e +e − data between √ s = 35 and 183 GeV are considered.
