Description
Summary:Magnetic pinning interaction is considered to contribute significantly to the overall pinning strength in the ceramic high- T c superconductors. Although it is not as effective as the core interaction mechanism, the magnetic interaction is a significant source of pinning of flux lines along the interface between the superconducting and the nonsuperconducting phase. The sharpness of the interface is crucial in characterising the quality of the interface and the effectiveness of the magnetic interaction. A theoretical investigation of the magnetic interaction of a flux line at interfaces with various degrees of sharpness is carried out based on the London equation, and the force exerted on the magnetic flux lines is derived from the energy of the magnetic field around a vortex in the vicinity of the interface.
