Summary: | A model of thalamic system combining properties of lumped and single representative neuron type models was constructed. It includes data on intrinsic ionic currents and allows for direct comparison of model output with observables derived from the scalp EEG. The model accounts for: waxing and waning of sleep spindles, topographical differences in their spectra and in the slow rhythm of their reappearance in the scalp EEG, differences in the rhythm of spindles’ reappearance reported in vivo and in vitro. The model also describes rhythms in awake and in deep sleep EEG. |
