Description
Summary:A fiber-optic pipette (FOP) has been developed. The device uniquely couples a glass capillary, a common syringe and a single optical fiber to provide for a facile means of achieving long-pathlength capillary spectroscopy. The novel mechanical configuration of the FOP allows for the acquisition of rapid spectroscopic measurements of small-volume liquid samples while simultaneously achieving signal enhancements of the collected spectroscopic signal. The device has been successfully employed in collecting the Raman spectra of several solvents, a preliminary characterization of the signal enhancement capabilities has been demonstrated and the advantages associated with the device have been discussed.
